Meet Ev
At Caves Beach Yoga I teach Hatha – a practice that includes both Yin (passive) and Yang (active) asana (postures). I also teach pranayama (breath control) as an integral part of my classes. In our fast-paced, switched “on” society, we need downtime and much-needed space, a place to slow down, switch “off”, reflect, bringing back balance and harmony. Through all these practices I guide students to connect mind, body, breath and spirit. I invite students to slow down, clear their mind, be present and attain inner peace.
My classes encourage Svadhyaya (self study), helping students to become aware of their physical body, energy body, mind body, wisdom body. Explore strengths and limitations, practice gratitude and acceptance Become the best version of themselves. This approach builds both physical and mental strength and flexibility, cultivates resilience, balance and harmony while generating an overall sense of health and well-being.
I began my yoga journey over two decades ago in my early 40s while practicing yoga asana as part of my fitness program. I found yoga to be the perfect counter balance to my other more intense cardio or weight training activities. It definitely improved my flexibility and gave me an overall sense of strength and balance I hadn’t experienced before.
At the time while working in a stressful corporate environment I was seeking a transformative change. Inspired by a rejuvenating yoga retreat to The Monastery@ Stroud in 2018, I decided to deepen my practice by enrolling in a Yoga Teacher Training course. This course not only challenged me physically and mentally but also aligned perfectly with my focus on healthy aging. In 2020, I completed 350 hours of Yoga Teacher Training with Ginny & Greg Clarke @ Living Peace Yoga in Toronto, a life-changing experience that solidified my commitment to yoga.
For the past five years, I have been contracting with gyms and yoga studios, teaching between 4-9 classes a week, which involved significant travel. It was at this point I decided to create my own space to offer classes and teach the yoga practices I love. My teaching style suits beginners to experienced yogis, offering modifications and props to meet all student needs. I am always open to chat/discuss your experiences on the mat and ready to help you move forward.
A significant milestone in my teaching career was recently teaching my 700th class. I am still amazed at how much joy it gives me.
A standout experience in May last year was a Yoga Adventure in the Northern Territory where I fulfilled a lifelong dream of experiencing Uluṟu from a spiritual perspective. I went on my own. The trip, filled with daily yoga, hikes through stunning ranges and canyons, swimming in waterholes, sleeping in swags under the stars, was incredible. Despite being surrounded by lovely younger yogis, my regular practice and commitment to the yogic path allowed me to keep up and fully enjoy every moment The highlight being a sunrise yoga session at Uluru. Pure bliss!
Devotion to your practice is the purest form of love and self care.
Take some time out – Give yourself some space – Slow down
A continuous yoga practice has numerous benefits, including increased flexibility strength and muscle tone; improved mobility; respiration, metabolism, energy, vitality; reduced stress and anxiety; cultivates self esteem and resilience; social connectedness. Creates a sense of well being.
Look forward to see you on the mat

I have been a member of a Belmont gym for many years and regularly attend the Wednesday and Friday yoga classes. It is here where I met our yoga teacher, Evelyn, when she first started teaching.
Her teachings accommodate everyone. She explains everything in detail so well and demostrates poses with ease. She is very patient with beginners and has a calming voice which is important during practice. Even experienced yogis in the class pick up on cues and little ‘tweaks’ that she suggests which can make a big difference. I love how Evelyn sequences each class, building towards and utilising our muscles for ‘peak’ poses. Technique is important. Evelyn encourages us to slow down, embody the breath, focus on that technique without compromising the pose. She makes everyone in the class feel comfortable, noting that we and our bodies are all different and not to worry about what the person beside you is doing. She offeres modifications throughout the class so everyone can adapt and benefit. She is approachable at end of class and welcomes questions and feedback.
Our classes are always full now, as the secret has got out, those who have now experienced it for themselves are coming back. We are so fortunate to have such a talented, caring and compassionate teacher. I would highly recommend Evelyn to anyone at any level. She will amaze you!

The wise words and sayings that she weaves throughout the class add an extra layer of inspiration for me. I have my mantra now, thank you Ev. I always feel nurtured in body and mind when I leave the class and looking forward to the next one.

Every Class is different but caters to the demographic attending and their needs.
As I am a “slightly” older Yogi I find Evelyn’s classes challenging, invigorating and calming at the same time.
Over the years I have done many different Yoga Classes but Evelyn’s is definitely one of the best – Love it.
